  • PlayStation Indies Initiative Announced, PlayStation Now Getting Indie Games

The console manufacturer has historically placed great emphasis on these smaller titles - especially during the late PS3 and early PS4 eras. The PlayStation Indies Initiative's goal will be to get more games from independent developers on the system.

Yesterday, Sony announced in a blog post a new publishing initiative: PlayStation Indies.

In fact, it may be that such announcements and marketing might be the main drive, visibly at least, for the new branding. "PlayStation has always embraced games with completely new concepts, like PaRappa the Rapper, Katamari Damacy, LittleBigPlanet, and Journey, and we look forward to seeing what surprising new ideas will come next!"

As a cherry on top, PlayStation Now service would now have an indie title added to its library every month for those streaming on their PC's or consoles starting with Hello Neighbor in July.

Also, in tandem with news of PlayStation's new indie initiative, we're also told that there are to be nine new indie games coming to PS5 and PS5 showcased throughout the day.
