Astronomers Detect Alerts From Mysterious Objects Outdoors The Milky Way

The team of scientists found four unusual objects that they describe as "circular edge-brightened discs" which don't correspond to any known object in the records.
"The objects appear in radio images as circular edge-brightened discs about one arcmin diameter and do not seem to correspond to any known type of object." the astronomers cited in their paper. Typically, this kind of circular observations have been recognised to depict astronomical objects like a supernova remnant, a planetary nebula, a circumstellar shell, a protoplanetary disc or even a star-forming galaxy.
The paper lists a few possible explanations but dismisses them. Though not sure about its antecedents and nature, scientists have tentatively started calling these objects "ORCs" which expands into Odd Radio Circles.
Kristine Spekkens, who is an astronomer from the Royal Military College of Canada and Queen's University was quoted as telling LiveScience website that the objects appear to be one of the many unprobed and unexplored aspects of the universe.
"Alternatively, they may represent some remnant of a previous outflow from a radio galaxy".
Israel had the coronavirus under control. What happened?
As coronavirus tore throughout the United States and Europe, Israel was comfortably moving in the direction of reopening. Siegal Sadetzki, resigned Tuesday, issuing a scathing criticism of the government's handling of the pandemic.
"It may well also be that these are an extension of earlier recognized course of objects that we haven't been in a position to investigate", she stated.
All 4 ORCs were located to only be observable at radio wavelengths and did not clearly show up on either the optical, infrared or X-ray wavelengths. Not emit light, making them invisible to optical telescopes. It suggests that the galaxies are what formed these mysterious objects. Two of them are relatively close together, which may indicate some relation. EMU stands for the Evolutionary Map of the Universe.
It was during a 2019 survey of the sky, conducted as part of the Evolutionary Map of the Universe (EMU) project, using the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP), one of the world's most sensitive radio telescope arrays, when scientists first detected the unusual signals.
The ASKAP uses 36 dish antennas that work in tandem to watch the night sky with a wide-angle view. The findings were reported when astronomers were reviewing the archival data from radio telescopes in Australia and India respectively.
Only four ORCs have been discovered now, and astronomers can't tell what the true nature of these mysterious objects are.
