  • A teenager calls police after finding a suspicious suitcase

Police have identified the remains of two people, whose dismembered bodies were stuffed into a suitcase and discovered by teens on a viral TikTok video in Seattle last month.

Seattle Police also found another bag in the water, also containing dismembered human remains.

Authorities have identified the two victims as Jessica Lewis, 35, and Austin Wenner, 27. They were likely shot dead on June 10, the medical examiner said, based on the state of the bodies.

Seattle Police Detective Mark Jamieson confirmed that the TikTok video was not released until the next day.

Police said there is no indication the teens were involved in the killings and dismissed the idea they'd staged the video.

In the TikTok video, which has been viewed millions of times and liked more than 4.5 million times on the app, one of the teens stumbles on rocks as she steps away from the suitcase she opened.

About a 7 days afterwards, the teens located the bodies stuffed in baggage on a seashore in west Seattle and instantly named 911 - then posted the video clip the upcoming working day, CNN affiliate KIRO reported. When they opened it, they found a black trash bag and when they opened it, they were immediately hit with a foul smell that overwhelmed them.

Reopen or lose federal funds, U.S. schools told
Twice this week Trump threatened to cut federal funding for schools that don't reopen, including in an earlier tweet on Friday. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos issued a statement on Thursday applauding Trump on the executive order.

Authorities responded to the scene after receiving a call from a suspicious bag on the beach. That is when they called on the police because they thought something was off.

"We've interviewed them and we're actually glad that the video is out because it helps corroborate some of the information", Jamieson told the site.

Lewis's aunt, Gina Jaschke, expressed her disbelief Tuesday regarding the horrific discovery, according to Q13 Fox.

The couple were "good-hearted people", according to a GoFundMe launched by Jaschke to raise money for a reward to aid in the investigation.

Lewis' niece told the TV station that Lewis was a mother of four and had been in a relationship with Wenner for eight years.

"They were just nice, normal people", she said. "Nobody deserves what occurred to them".
