The new method proposed by the scientists could inform future searchers for black holes as well as Planet Nine.
The hunt for the at any time-elusive "Planet Nine" has taken researchers down some incredibly unusual roads. The notion that a earth exists in the outer reaches of our solar program and can not be simply noticed has been floating around for some time, and observations of other objects in the space propose that there is one thing huge building a gravitational pull. The easiest explanation would be a planet, but it's not the only possibility.
Scientists at Harvard University have developed a new method to hunt down black holes beyond our galaxy which may finally figure out what is going on with the oft-theorized but never-witnessed 'Planet Nine'. Yep, you read that properly there may possibly be a black gap lurking right in our cosmic back yard.
Accretion flares are caused by the disruption of comets intercepted by a black hole's gravitational tug.
The study suggests that the future Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) mission has the capability to find black holes by observing for accretion flares resulting from the impact of small Oort cloud objects.
"In the vicinity of a black hole, small bodies that approach it will melt as a result of heating from the background accretion of gas from the interstellar medium onto the black hole", said Siraj.
"Once they soften, the tiny bodies are subject matter to tidal disruption by the black gap, followed by accretion from the tidally disrupted body onto the black gap".
"Because black holes are intrinsically dark, the radiation that matter emits on its way to the mouth of the black hole is our only way to illuminate this dark environment", explained, one of the leading scientists, Dr Avi Loeb.
Using this method, Loeb claims we can finally detect, or rule out, the planet-mass black holes on the edge of the Oort cloud, thus solving the long-standing mystery of the so-called 'Planet Nine'. It will reportedly boast a field of view that covers the whole sky, collecting a whopping 10 terabytes of data per night, once fully operational. If the existence of Planet Nine is confirmed through a direct electromagnetic search, it will be the first detection of a new planet in the solar system in two centuries, not counting Pluto, said Siraj, adding that a failure to detect light from Planet Nine-or other recent models, such as the suggestion to send probes to measure gravitational influence-would make the black hole model intriguing. Now being a black hole, the item would be substantially, much smaller than Earth, and the researchers advise it could be as very small as a grapefruit. It is worth noting that the data from Gartner and IDC are estimates and can not reflect Apple's actual sales. Lenovo was the world's largest seller of PCs in the quarter, with 17.1 million units sold, compared to 16.

A giant icy snowball is now hurtling past Earth and putting on a spectacular light show-but only for a limited time. Comet NEOWISE is hurtling close enough to the Earth to be easily visible as it streaks through our skies this month.
