A teenager has been located responsible of murdering training assistant Lindsay Birbeck right before going her body in a wheelie bin and dumping it in a nearby cemetery.

A post-mortem found the mother-of-two, who had left her home for a walk when she went missing, had died as a result of compression of the neck.

The 17-year-old strangled the 47-year-old mother-of-two, who was found wrapped in two plastic bags at the back of a cemetery in August 24 last year.

Preston Crown Court heard her assailant had been on the prowl for lone females.

On Thursday, Mrs Justice Yip ruled that the public interest in knowing Price's identity outweighed concerns over his welfare.

The judge said: "This was a terrible crime which understandably generated strong public interest".

"The public will naturally want to know who this person was as they come to terms with something that rocked the local community".

Her killer - who was 16 at the time - attended a police station several days after the keep-fit enthusiast was found when police released a CCTV clip of a young male pulling a blue wheelie bin behind him on Burnley Road.

The 17-year-old's is understood to be living with his parents, Martina and Creddy Price, who were in court for every day that their son had to attend along with other relatives, as reported by the Lancashire Telegraph.

On 17 August, five days after Birbeck went missing, Price was seen moving a wheelie bin from the woods to the cemetery, which now appeared "heavy", the court heard.

Not only that, but according to Pelissero "the woman was wearing Seahawks gear in an attempt to disguise her as a player". NFL training camps are just beginning, with the league and its teams trying to sort through COVID-19 protocols.

The Crown said the defendant's account was "implausible fiction".

Prior to her murder, Mrs Birbeck experienced remaining her property in for a late afternoon stroll to a nearby wooded region acknowledged as the Coppice.

His defence claimed the DNA and scientific evidence suggested she might have been killed by someone she knew, not a stranger like Price.

But the prosecution rejected this, with David McLachlan QC describing Price's claims of a stranger offering money to move the body as "a complete nonsense", created to "explain away his actions that day".

Family members of Price as well as some of his teachers and members of his gym recognised him in the footage. He was diagnosed with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The court heard that Price has already been subject to two "attacks" while on remand at HMP Wetherby.

He had a "limited understanding" of his own emotional wellbeing and little insight into the link between events and emotions.

"Our lives have been utterly destroyed by the evil, cowardly behaviour of the defendant and the horrific manner in which she was murdered - it has left a huge void in our lives that will never be filled".

Sentencing is expected to consider location on Friday.
