  • China's Can Sino says hasn't begun enrolling people for Phase 3 trial

In fact, it has produced the first batch of its coronavirus vaccine on Sunday.

"We are taking advice from Australia's best medical and scientific expertise to ensure that the government's work to select, produce and purchase COVID-19 vaccines and treatments is based on the best available knowledge".

German biotechnology firm CureVac has not ruled out a speedy approval process for its prospective vaccine and expects to have it on the market by mid-2021. The Phase 1 and 2 clinical trials of the vaccine were completed on August 1, 2020.

AstraZeneca's candidate is seen as a frontrunner in the global race to deliver an effective vaccine against the coronavirus that has killed more than 770,000 people and infected almost 22 million, according to a Reuters tally.

Novavax said that the trial will consist of two cohorts.

But the opposition says the deal is just a letter of intent, an initial agreement to choose that vaccine, and doesn't secure any dosage for Australians yet.

"We are assessing the viability of options ranging from the fill and finish of bulk product imported to Australia through to manufacture of the vaccine candidate under licence", CSL said in a statement.

The 38-second promotional video, created by the Russian Direct Investment Fund, which has bankrolled the project, shows how the Sputnik V vaccine, named after the first artificial satellite, emerges and slowly eradicates the novel coronavirus from the world, with cases rising to 21.6 million, including 7,74,000 deaths.

The strict restrictions appear to have put new daily case numbers on a downward path after they peaked at more than 700 earlier this month. The inquiry was launched after claims that some contracted workers were breaking protocol at these hotels - including reportedly having sex with people under lockdown.

It began with one family that arrived from overseas on May 9; each family member tested positive in the days after arrival. By July 29, health officials had identified 817 active cases linked to the hotel.

AstraZeneca's Australian office told News Corp that Australia did not have a purchasing agreement for a COVID-19 even though nine other countries did.
