  • 'Star Trek: Discovery' Season 3 Trailer:

The new trailer does offer some hints about how the Federation fell.

The crew of the Discovery made a awful sacrifice at the end of season two, leaving their lives as they knew them behind and flinging the ship 930 years into the future, where the Federation is in some dire straits of its own (again). As well, viewers can probably anticipate some adventures with characters like Saru and Tilly, where Michael isn't such a focal point.

The footage provides the first look at the 32nd century, the furthest the Star Trek franchise has ever traveled into the future.

During the Star Trek: Discovery panel earlier today, CBS All Access debuted a brand new trailer for the upcoming third season of the show, which shows what happens to the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery after they were flung forward almost a thousand years in time at the end of the second season. As always, continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more updates on the world of Star Trek, and for the latest news happening in television and movies. CBS All Access has announced that two new characters are joining the cast for season three, and will be the franchise's first explicitly nonbinary and transgender characters. The crew is now in the year 3188, and something called "The Burn" has ripped the Federation apart.

The trailer makes clear that Burnham meets Book while she's initially separated from the Discovery crew after their jump into the future. When they do, Paradise said, "we'll find that it's still in existence, [but] much diminished from what it once was".

Check out the trailer and poster below, and let us know if you plan on checking out Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 when it premieres on October 15. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.
