Apple Music launches TV channel for music videos

Apple is stepping on the territory of MTV with its latest Apple Music feature, with the launch of a 24-hour stream of music videos for US-based users called Apple Music TV.

Alongside the free streaming content, Apple Music TV will also promote new content including upcoming albums. In the TV app, you can scroll down a bit to find ‌Apple Music‌ TV highlighted today, and it's at the top of the Browse tab in ‌Apple Music‌.

The service premiered Monday morning (Oct. 19) with a countdown of the top 100 all-time most-streamed songs in the USA on Apple Music.

It will also have two exclusive video premieres on Friday at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT, Joji's "777" and Saint Jhn's "Gorgeous"; the channel will premiere new videos every Friday at that time.

Launched on Monday, Apple Music TV is a constant stream of music videos hosted by the music streaming service, which is free to view via the Apple Music app and the Apple TV app, and accessible from Apple's website.

Surprisingly, the announcement includes no specific mention of music documentaries, which is a format the company has already invested in - most notably the forthcoming Billie Eilish feature-length doc "The World's a Little Blurry", which is scheduled for release in February.

The question remains though: is there more Apple could do to surface Apple Music's catalog of non-music material, such as radio stations, interviews, and music videos?
