Ce contentieux vient s'ajouter à une longue liste de désaccords entre Emmanuel Macron et son homologue turc. "Nous n'entrons pas dans des polémiques inutiles et n'acceptons pas les insultes", a commenté l'Élysée auprès de l'AFP, en annonçant le rappel pour consultation de l'ambassadeur de France à Ankara.

Le président turc dénonce l'attitude du président de la république française envers les musulmans de France. Un an plus tard, la réponse semble, cette fois, moins diplomatique. "Nous avons éveillé les partenaires européens au risque posé par Erdogan" en Méditerranée orientale, dans le conflit entre l'Azerbaïdjan et l'Arménie, en Libye ou encore en Syrie. Ce samedi, le président turc s'en est pris au président français au sujet des mesures décidées pour lutter contre l'islam radical, à la suite de l'attentat de Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

" Que peut-on dire d'autre d'un dirigeant d'un pays qui ne comprend pas la liberté de religion et se comporte de cette manière envers les millions de personnes vivant dans son pays et les membres d'une religion différente?" L'outrance et la grossièreté ne sont pas une méthode.

Il y a deux semaines, Recep Tayyip Erdogan avait dénoncé comme une provocation les déclarations de son homologue français sur le "séparatisme islamiste" et la nécessité de "structurer l'islam" en France, alors que l'exécutif présentait son futur projet de loi sur ce thème.

Dans son allocution jeudi soir, Emmanuel Macron avait notamment promis que la France continuerait de défendre les caricatures. Aux yeux de Paris, "il y a une campagne islamiste contre la France".

L'Élysée réclame de nouveau samedi "que la Turquie mette fin à ses aventures dangereuses en Méditerranée et dans la région", et dénonce le "comportement irresponsable" d'Ankara au Haut-Karabakh.

Dans les nombreux dossiers qui opposent ces derniers mois Paris et Ankara, Recep Tayyip Erdogan n'a visiblement pas l'intention de dépassionner le débat, c'est-à-dire de le dépersonnaliser, puisqu'il continue de s'en prendre nommément à Emmanuel Macron.
