Victoria Derbyshire has apologised for saying she would break the "rule of six" over Christmas.
We'll do it knowing what the risks are.
The presenter is fully up to speed with the latest restrictions, reporting on the frequent changes in guidelines on a near-daily basis for the BBC despite her own self-titled programme being axed earlier in the year.
Victoria said: "If the rule of six is still in place at Christmas, we're breaking it to have the rule of seven".
She told the publication: 'Joining me, my husband and our two boys will be my mum, her partner and my husband's dad.
"We'll do it knowing what the risks are".
"We're going to be sensible and buy a thermometer gun".
Derbyshire and her husband Mark have two sons, Oliver, 16, and Joe, 13.
Meanwhile, there were plenty of people who empathized with Derbyshire's position, highlighting how it has been a tough year for everyone and that Christmas is a necessary chance to bring the family together.
The presenter went on to say it feels "irresponsible" to make the admission, but believes other people will be feeling the same way.

The warning came after tougher rules were enforced for almost six million Britons - including a lockdown in Wales.
Asked whether she is missing visiting antiques fairs, one of her favourite pastimes, during lockdown, she replied: "No, what I've missed most is having loads of people round my house and seeing family".
Ms Derbyshire has shared her determination despite the financial penalties involved for both her and those who are invited to dine at Christmas.
Last week, a Downing Street spokesman said Prime Minister Boris Johnson is hopeful the new rules can be eased by Christmas.
"It was hypothetical - however I was totally wrong to say it and I'm sorry".
But a scientific adviser to the government warned that, without taking action, a normal Christmas was "wishful thinking in the extreme".
