Brad Binder, premier Sud-Africain vainqueur d’un Grand Prix — MotoGP

Binder est le premier débutant à s'imposer depuis Marc Marquez (2013). L'Italien a devancé les deux Français Johann Zarco (Reale Avintia Racing, +0 " 016) et Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT, +0 " 097) qui seront en lice tout à l'heure pour décrocher une place en première ligne (Q2 à partir de 14h35).

Brad Binder, 24 ans, est entré dans la légende du sport sud-africain, ce 9 août 2020 à Brno en République tchèque, en devenant le tout premier pilote de MotoGP de son pays à remporter un Grand Prix dans l'actuelle compétition reine des courses de moto. "Les essais libres 1 à 3 n'ont pas été bons mais les essais libres 4 me laissaient penser qu'on pourrait se battre pour le podium ou la victoire".

"Je me suis demandé si j'étais toujours dans le rythme et, aujourd'hui, c'était le cas, c'est un sentiment génial", s'est-il félicité.

"Je ne m'attendais pas à faire la pole, n'a-t-il pas caché".
