Zverev destroys Schwartzman to complete Cologne double

Zverev is set to compete at the ATP Finals in London next month, where he will be out to regain the title he won for the first time in 2018. I think he is going to be Top 10 very shortly.

Zverev, this year's US Open runner-up, sent down nine aces and won an incredible 83 per cent of his first serve points as he cruised through the clash with 28-year-old second seed Schwartzman in 71 minutes without being broken.

He held throughout the second set and will now face Diego Schwartzman, who beat last week's beaten Cologne Indoors finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime in the other semi.

"It's getting better", said Zverev, who thanked his team on court after his triumph.

The 23-year-old lost to Sinner at the last-16 stage of the French Open earlier this month but was too strong for the wildcard entrant in this latest match, prevailing 7-6 (7-3) 6-3.

After an even start, Zverev nosed himself ahead with a break of Schwartzman's serve in the fifth game of the opener, with another concession from the Argentine following. Zverev streaked through six straight games firing a forehand to close in one hour, 11 minutes.

The Argentine did his best to stay in the match and had chances to break right away in the next service game but the Hamburg native did a good job saving it forcing the error from the number two seed.

It will be Peque's tenth final, in search of his fourth ATP title.
