He will interview BBC staff and have access to all their records.

"You do not need a public statement to imagine how he is feeling privately, people know how much his mother means to him".

"Sadly, some people are not just seeing this as a drive for truth, but also trying to use this as an opportunity to try to drive a wedge between the brothers", a source close to Harry told PEOPLE.

"He has bravely spoken out in the past about loss and grief, and the huge impact it has had on him".

The BBC has said the broadcaster is determined to get to the truth about Spencer's assertions and has appointed John Dyson, one of the country's most senior retired judges, to lead the inquiry.

Charles Spencer previously accused the broadcaster of a "whitewash" and alleged he was shown "false bank statements" by Mr Bashir to help the reporter land the historic interview with the princess in 1995.

He said: 'The independent investigation is a step in the right direction.

It will also examine what knowledge the BBC had in 1995 and 1996 of "mocked up bank statements purporting to show payments to a former employee of Earl Spencer (and) the purported payments to members of the Royal Households", the corporation said.

However Diana's brother said he was "not at all satisfied with the parameters" set around the inquiry into the BBC Panorama interview.

"Lord Dyson must be free to examine every aspect of this matter, from 1995 to today, as he sees fit".

The BBC has insisted that investigation has a sufficiently broad scope.

The spokeswoman added: "Clearly, if anyone submits new evidence - or the investigation needs to go to particular places - then Lord Dyson will be able to consider that appropriately".
