Gordon Hayward's tenure in Boston has been less than ideal, to say the least.

Gordon Hayward has battled numerous injuries and not lived up to expectations since he signed with the Boston Celtics in 2017.

The Ringer's Ryen Russillo said Tuesday that he heard the Celtics huge man "does want out" of the a year ago of his $127.8 million agreement he signed during the 2017 offseason. The 2020-21 season is expected to be shortened, which could result in the salary cap decreasing. ESPN's Zach Lowe and Bobby Marks had reported that there is some "buzz" that the 30-year-old may opt-out and seek a long-term deal with a new team, much like Al Horford did when he spurned the Celtics to sign a four-year, $109 million pact with the Philadelphia 76ers. "He's not opting out of that huge number unless he knows he's getting the deal".

Hayward opting out does not suddenly give Boston a lot of money to attack the free-agent market with - Kemba Walker is on a huge contract, Jaylen Brown got a big extension, and the Celtics are going to have to max out Jayson Tatum.

Hayward appeared in 52 video games in the course of the 2019-20 season, averaging 17.5 factors and 6.5 rebounds per sport. He suffered a slew of accidents all through the season, together with ankle sprains, a concussion and a foot damage.
