Today, it was revealed by Dana White that McGregor has officially signed on for the fight, which means this is all going to go down at UFC 257.

Conor McGregor has signed his bout agreement for his rematch with Dustin Poirier on January 23.

The fight is a rematch of their featherweight clash in 2014, which McGregor (22-4) won via first-round TKO. Abu Dhabi is likely to be the venue. The official signing by both parties puts an end to negotiations that included potentially shifting the contest to headline UFC 256 on December 12.

Conor McGregor continues to be one of the biggest draws in the UFC, even if he hasn't been as active as people would like him to be. Poirier has also signed up for the bout. Since facing off at UFC 178, the two have both earned UFC gold.

McGregor is 3-2 overall since leaving the featherweight division. McGregor relinquished both titles before attempting to defend them. After leaving the sport for almost two years to box Floyd Mayweather Jr., McGregor returned to try to earn his old belt back from Khabib Nurmagomedov, only to be submitted in the fourth round with a neck crank.

McGregor, 32, has held UFC titles in the featherweight and lightweight divisions, but he has been at odds with the promotion since a TKO win over Donald Cerrone in UFC 246 on January 18. This matchup with Poirier will take place at lightweight. McGregor captured the division's undisputed title in 2016 by knocking out Eddie Alvarez, while Poirier captured the division's interim title with a 2019 decision win over Max Holloway. "The Diamond" bounced back from the loss to Nurmagomedov by trumping Dan Hooker after a thrilling five-round battle in June. The fight itself wasn't too competitive though with McGregor landing the finishing strikes just 1:46 into the opening round.

McGregor last fought this past January at 170 pounds when he made quick work of Donald Cerrone.
