The enhanced policy allows employees to take their time to return to the offices, when they are open, by giving them the option to remain working-from-home either full or part-time until 30 June 2021. Facebook employees who do not work remotely, such as content testers working on counter-terrorism measures or suicide and self-harm reduction would be able to return to the workplace sooner.

It may be noted that Facebook has a 48,000-strong workforce across the globe.

Twitter and Slack have made a permanent choice for any of their workers to work from home.

In a recent interview, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, "The thing that's been positively surprising to people is that people are more productive working at home than people would have expected".
