The order will affect restaurants, bars and wineries, forcing them to operate through takeout, delivery and drive-thru only.

"To reduce the possibility for crowding and the potential for exposures in settings where people are not wearing their face coverings, restaurants, breweries, wineries and bars will only be able to offer take-out, drive thru, and delivery services", L.A. Public Health said in a release. "Wineries and breweries may continue their retail operations adhering to current protocols". The order is expected to last three weeks.

Sunday saw 9 new deaths and 2,718 new cases of COVID-19.

County officials stepped up the restrictions and ordered the closure of all in person dining when the five day average for new cases crossed 4,000.

Even more stringent curbs will follow if Sunday's new cases reach 4,731. He apologized and described the dinner as outdoors.

California, which had a record number of cases earlier in the weekend, started its 10 p.m. -to-5 a.m. curfew on Saturday night across most of the state, affecting areas that encompass 37 million people, or 94% of the population.
