And a total of 59,549 coronavirus-related deaths occurred in England and Wales up to November 6 and had been registered up to November 14, according to the latest report from the Office for National Statistics.

715 deaths occurred in hospital, 423 in care homes, nine occurred in hospices and 80 took place at residential addresses or another location.

More than 70,000 deaths involving Covid-19 have now occurred in the United Kingdom, new figures show.

These figures are based on patients having previously tested positive for the virus, whereas the NISRA figures are based on the information entered on death certificates, completed by medical professionals.

On this basis, deaths of care home residents account for 42.8% of all Covid-19 related deaths; however, no assumptions can be made in relation to where or when the deceased contracted the disease.

Over the last 33 weeks, 1,676 "excess deaths" (i.e. deaths above the average for the corresponding week in previous years) have been registered in Northern Ireland, with the number of excess deaths in the year to date totalling 1,417.
