Coronavirus In Illinois: 10,012 New COVID-19 Cases, Including 76 Additional Deaths

"With approximately 700 cases reported to date-120 cases just in the last week-residents should assume that if they are out anywhere, a COVID-19 exposure is likely", said St. Lawrence County Public Health Director Dana McGuire. This brings the total number of cases in the state to 656,298, including 11,506 deaths, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

As of late Saturday, Illinois had 6,072 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, ending a streak of 27 consecutive days of hospital admission increases for COVID-19. Of those 1,179 were in intensive care and 589 were on ventilators.

The preliminary 7-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from November 16-22 is 10.9%. Currently, 20% of medical/surgical beds are available and 31% of ICU beds. The new rate is based on tests recorded as of November 20.

Finally, within the Will/Kankakee region, there are 30 available, staffed ICU beds out of 162 total. Currently, 26% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23% of ICU beds. "If we all keep in mind to practice these recommendations and limit gatherings outside of our own households we can prevent exposures, decrease the spread of COVID-19, and hopefully flatten the curve that is now rising so quickly".

The North-Central region (Bureau, Fulton, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Kendall, Knox, La Salle, Livingston, Marshall, McDonough, McLean, Mercer, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Tazewell, Warren and Woodford counties) has seen four days of positivity increases and seven days of hospital admission increases, a decrease in both metrics.

The metro-east's positivity rate continued to drop Monday, but the region's hospital bed availability increased slightly.

The region's positivity rate decreased slightly to 14.9%. Currently, 20% of medical/surgical beds are available and 20% of ICU beds. The region's positivity rate decreased to 14.9%.
