Bam Adebayo agrees to max extension with Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have agreed to sign Bam Adebayo to a five-year, $163 million contract extension, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Zach Lowe of ESPN reports the deal has escalator clauses that could increase the total to $195.6 million over five years.

Sacramento Kings guard De'Aaron Fox and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum each recently signed a similar extension.

The new deal means Miami would have to shed some salary in order to free up a max contract slot for next summer's free agency.
