Amazon pulls the plug on Gillian Flynn’s sci-fi drama Utopia

It premiered on Amazon Prime Video on September 25 to lukewarm reviews. And so the cancellation comes only two months after its release. Apparently Flynn had been working on this exclusive American adaptation of the series for seven years and signed a deal with HBO under the direction of David Finch.

Based on the British series of the same name, the thriller followed five fans of a (seemingly) fictional comic called Utopia. They realize these are not just the makings of a conspiracy; they are very real dangers coming alive right now in their world. Trying to figure out how to save the world, the group meets the comic's central character - Jessica Hyde, who joins them in their mission to protect the world.

As soon as the news of the cancellation came, Amazon ordered the sixth and final season of "The Expense".
