En effet Dave Prowse, l'acteur qui a donné vie à Dark Vador en enfilant la mythique armure noire dans la trilogie originale de Star Wars est décédé à l'âge de 85 ans. L'agence Bowington Management qui représentait le comédien britannique a annoncé son décès sur Twitter dimanche 29 novembre.

"C'est avec grande tristesse que nous devons nous annoncer que notre client Dave Prowse est mort hier matin (samedi) à l'âge de 85 ans", a écrit son agent sur Facebook.

Avant Star Wars, il a ainsi tourné pour la télévision, apparaissant dans des séries et téléfilms comme Cosmos 1999 (en 1976) ou La Petite maison dans la prairie (1975).

Cet acteur a eu un parcours pour le moins atypique: avant de jouer Dark Vador dans les trois premiers films de la saga Star Wars, il a commencé sa carrière dans la culturisme de 1962 à 1964, devenant l'année suivante champion du monde d'haltérophilie poids lourd.

Cette déconvenue ne l'empêche pas de rester l'une des icônes de la saga, adulée par des millions de fans.
