SpaceX and NASA to launch first manned flight in nine years

The goal of the upcoming Crew Dragon mission is to return the orbital launches to the United States, which ceased after the completion of the Space Shuttle reusable spacecraft program. The launch will be the first time NASA sent astronauts to the International Space Station in a commercially built spacecraft, and the first time humans have gone into orbit from the USA since 2011. That flight is set to happen at 4:33 PM EDT (1:33 PM PDT), weather permitting, but meanwhile SpaceX has provided a closer look at Crew Dragon and what went into its design.

If Wednesday's launch is canceled for any reason, the backup dates are May 30 and May 31. This will also mark the beginning of a new phase of space exploration for America. Ever since then, NASA has been relying on Russian Federation to conduct operations, which can't be sweet for the space organisation.

If the test succeeds, SpaceX will be certified by NASA for additional crewed missions to the ISS. The company also plans on starting commercial flights for space enthusiasts very soon. All that and more awaits SpaceX, if the operation today is successful.
