Pfizer-BioNTech's "genetic type" experimental Covid-19 began its phase 3 clinical trials in July this year.

The UK government expects the rollout of the vaccine before Christmas by skipping European Union regulators as it prepares for Brexit transitions. So far, COVID-19 has claimed over 58,000 lives in the UK.

According to the government release, the Moderna vaccine still needs to get approval from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The first immunisations using the BioNTech and Pfizer vaccine could take place from December 7, the FT said, citing unnamed sources.
