On Sunday morning, the news broke that Star Wars actor David Prowse had passed away at age 85 after suffering from an undisclosed illness.

The official Twitter account of original Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew, who died in 2019, also reacted to the news of Prowse's death. In an interview with the BBC, Prowse recalled, "I said, 'Well, don't say any more, George, I'll have the villain's part, '" adding "You always remember the bad guy".

Not much is known of the actor's death.

"More sad news. Dave has gone. Our love and thoughts go out to his family", Joiner said.

Prowse's career as an actor spanned 50 years, but it was his role as the Sith Lord in Star Wars that brought him worldwide fame. They arrested him, and Hebert was booked for felony non-residential burglary. "#RIP (sic)" Hamill wrote.

Prowse played the masked Vader in the original Star Wars film trilogy. He was correct in more ways than one.

Dave landed the role of Darth Vader thanks to his imposing physique while James Earl Jones famously provided the voice of the character.

Prowse played Vader in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983). Instead, British stage actor Sebastian Shaw was used by Lucas.

According to IMDB, Prowse was born in Bristol, UK in 1935 and raised by his mother and never knew his father.

Prowse won the British heavyweight weightlifting championship three times and was selected to represent England at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in Perth, Australia.

He also shredded phone books under the stage-name Jack the Ripper. Prowse personally trained Christopher Reeve for the role of Superman in 1978.

Prowse was also famous in the United Kingdom for playing the road safety advocate Green Cross Code Man, for which he earned the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE)-an honor bestowed upon British civilians for their contributions to the arts and sciences. He was awarded an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 2000.
