NBC's Peacock has apologized for a joke in the new Saved by the Bell reboot that referenced Selena Gomez's kidney transplant in what many viewers found to be a distasteful way.
For those unversed, the issues arose after numerous Selenators took to their respective social media accounts and began bashing the show for "inappropriately" insulting both Selena, as well as others suffering from Lupus.
A joint statement from Peacock, NBCUniversal, and the executive producers of Saved By the Ball has been released.
According to People magazine they claimed, "We apologize".
Of course, the producers did acknowledge patients and donors by making a donation to Selena's lupus research fund at the University of Southern California. "They're best friends, like you and I were." .
This comes after the show made references to her kidney transplant in a recent episode.
The rebooted series features an episode where two characters argue over who donated a kidney to the singer in 2017. The duo argues in the hallway of the school and can not agree on whether Justin Bieber's mother or Demi Lovato donated their kidney, and express their anger about not having their phones to prove their claims. There's trash scattered everywhere and graffiti all over the walls.

French government drops draft law curbing filming of police
A protest against the draft law, which has yet to pass a Senate vote, has been called for Saturday in Paris. Punishment for the crime will be imprisonment for up to 1 year, with a maximum fine of 45,000 euros.
The woman who donated one of her kidneys to Selena Gomez is speaking up about a very uncool time in the pop star's life. She tweeted her thoughts in response to the episode. You're so fearless and your selfless act is much appreciated and valued!'
"We would like to give our utmost thanks and appreciation to awesome kidney donors like Francia Raisa". The two have been friends for years, and Gomez spoke publicly about the life-saving sacrifice Raisa made for her.
"You literally saved a life donating your kidney to selena and for them to make fun of it like that it's really low, disgusting and disrespectful", one fan wrote.
In a second tweet, she wrote: "As a kidney donor I want to show love and let other donors know that you are not alone".
What do U make of this whole controversy, Perezcious readers?!
Gomez has yet to publicly respond to the joke, the subsequent backlash, and Peacock's apology.
