As part of an array of scheduling changes announced by the ACC on Tuesday, Notre Dame will no longer play Wake Forest on December 12, meaning the Irish's game this weekend against Syracuse will be the team's regular season finale.

Among the scheduling changes to note: Both Notre Dame and Clemson now will have an open date December 12, a week before the ACC championship game in Charlotte, North Carolina. Though Florida State wanted to play Clemson on December 12 after their game was postponed, the Tigers did not want to go back to Tallahassee to play.

Playing beyond this weekend would have pushed Clemson and Notre Dame to 10 ACC games played. That game was supposed to be played in Durham, North Carolina, this weekend, but was postponed because of the coronavirus issues with the Seminoles.

By virtue of todays announcement, Notre Dame has secured a berth in the ACC Football Championship Game. Assuming Clemson beats Virginia Tech this weekend, a rematch of that November 7 epic will become official. No. 10 Miami has not played since November 14 due to COVID-19 issues. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons were scheduled to play at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Other scheduling changes that have been made: Duke will play at Florida State on December 12.

Wake Forest will play at Louisville on December 12 and host Florida State on December 19.

Florida State will host Duke on December 12.

Each ACC team is now required to take PCR tests on Thursday "with a result prior to the visiting team traveling to the game locale". It happened first with the Clemson game, when the Florida State medical staff did not agree it was safe to play because Clemson traveled with a player who unknowingly had the coronavirus. Florida State has postponed its last two games, and both times the visiting team - Clemson and then Virginia - had already made the trip to Tallahassee. Clemson tested before leaving for Tallahassee and did not receive those results until after it had arrived.

"The Chief Medical Officers from each team will confirm results and attest that there is every expectation that the game will be played", the conference said in a release.

Through the weekend of November 28, 74 of the 85 games scheduled by the ACC have been played.
