The Marlins were quick to the trigger with their first move involving that deadline, designating for assignment starting Jose Urena on Monday and acquiring relief pitcher Adam Cimber from the Cleveland Indians for cash considerations. He went 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA in five starts last season, when he had a $3.75 million salary and earned $1,388,889 in prorated pay. In that time he's recorded a 3.89 ERA in 136.1 innings pitched. He held opponents scoreless in 49 of his 68 appearances and allowed just 24.4 percent (11-of-45) of inherited runners to score, good for seventh-lowest in the AL.

In all, Cimber, 30, has pitched in 152 games over three Major League Baseball seasons going 9-12 with a 3.89 ERA in 136.1 innings. He has finished 33 games, including one save.
