Il a été, par deux fois, le grand méchant de la saga Mad Max.

Hugh Keays-Byrne, l'acteur ayant joué les célèbres antagonistes Toecutter et Immortan Joe, est mort à l'âge de 73 ans. Le comédien a marqué de son empreinte le genre postapocalyptique au cinéma. Dans l'original de 1979, il jouait Toecutter, l'un des chefs de bande des motards détruisant tout sur leur passage. Passé par des productions telles que Mad Dog Morgan, The Trespassers ou le délirant film de bikers Stone, il accédera à une plus large reconnaissance à la fin des années 70 grâce au premier rôle du thriller horrifique Death Train, tourné pour la chaîne australienne Seven Network, et enfin à Toecutter, dans Mad Max.
