Gibson shared his disdain over the eventual spinoff (2019's Hobbs & Shaw) in several Instagram posts, and even threatened to sit out of the ninth movie if Johnson was still a part of it.

During a virtual appearance on "Stir Crazy with Josh Horowitz", Gibson opened up about where the feud stands today.

Around the same time, Tyrese also said The Rock wouldn't respond to his text messages despite the two being friends and having starred in four "Fast & Furious" films together.

"What's interesting about "The Fast and The Furious" is it's not about any of us individually", he continued, speaking specifically about the franchise's spinoffs. "I'm sorry to announce that if [Dwayne] is in Fast9 there will no more Roman [Pearce]".

In fairness to Johnson, he didn't really rise to Gibson and the beef very much seemed to be one way.

"But, no, we haven't talked and I don't see where we would and, to me, there's no need to have a conversation". Gibson went on to mock Johnson's movie, Baywatch, which reportedly didn't do well at the box office upon its release. "Breaking up the family clearly doesn't have the value that one would assume it does", Gibson wrote, according to the screengrab.

"Congratulations to The Rock and your brother in law aka 7 Bucks producing partner for making The Fast and the Furious franchise about YOU", the singer tweeted in 2017, per CinemaBlend. "Everyone gets to go to the theatre and say, 'He and she looks like me'".

Gibson didn't sound entirely over it when he said he wouldn't be looking to do his own spin-off, however, as he explained: "I just could not make it about me".
