Humans are waging a "suicidal" war against the natural world which is devastating our planet, the secretary general of the UN, Antonio Guterres, will warn on Wednesday.
The planet is a unsafe state of peril.
Guterres has said that climate change has "left our planet broken" and urged nations to make radical changes before it is too late, according to the BBC.
All these countries are expected to put forward plans this year for how they will progress towards net zero, including explicit targets for 2030 - known as "nationally determined contributions" (NDCs) - though there are major concerns that numerous world's biggest polluters are not making enough headway.
Guterres spoke with Abiy on Sunday, said United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric, calling for a full respect of human rights and humanitarian aid access. Ocean heat is at record levels.
He appealed for contributions to fill a $4.3 billion shortfall in financing over the next two months.
Already, some countries have started initiating some moves.
Britain's parliament became the first in the world to declare a climate emergency, passing the motion in May a year ago, followed closely by Ireland.

Austin Mayor Threatens Residents With Lockdown While In Cabo
Only at our most trying moments, like around Thanksgiving, have I asked people not to travel as part of extra precautions. A few hours after speaking with KUT, Adler released a statement saying he "regrets" his decision to travel.
He said that future generations will face destruction from our actions today.
Mr Guterres reiterated his call that vaccines be considered a "global public good" that are shared around the world.
"In those cases where we do issue declarations, it is often where there is a threat to life, a threat to property, and civil defence emergencies", she told parliament.
Far more money, continued the secretary-general, needs to be invested in adapting to the changing climate, which is hindering the UN's work on disaster risk reduction. COVID and climate have brought us to a threshold.
It can be very stressful to think or learn about climate change with everything else going on, but the very least we can do is make sure we are informed on what is happening. Everyone has a role to play. Some are moving faster: Microsoft and Ikea, for example, plan to be carbon negative-they'll remove more carbon than they their operations produce-by 2030.
Trump has referred to climate change as a "hoax" and in 2017 pulled the United States out of a global accord to tackle climate change - a decision which took effect on November 4. Their bodies and immune systems are still developing, leaving them more susceptible to disease and environmental pollutants.
The link between Covid-19 and man-made climate change was also made plain by the United Nations chief, who noted that the continued encroachment of people and livestock into animal habitats, risks exposing us to more deadly diseases. And if nothing is done to mitigate it, its impact could burden an entire generation with disease and illness throughout their lives.
