With President Donald Trump's term winding down to its final weeks, White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah has resigned from her post. Farah returned to the White House in April 2019 to serve as communications director, CNN reported.
She started as press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence before rejoining Pentagon in September 2019 as the top spokesperson.
Farah's exit may be an acknowledgment that Trump has lost the 2020 election, and that Democratic challenger Biden will soon take charge in the Oval Office after his inauguration on January 20.
Farah has mostly laid low since the November 3 election, in which President-elect Joe Biden defeated Trump.
Farah said that serving the Trump administration has been "the honor of a lifetime" and that she is "deeply proud of the incredible things we were able to accomplish to make our country stronger, safer, and more secure".

During her time in the White House, Farah largely played a behind-the-scenes role, earning a reputation as a hard-working professional who generally had a strong relationship with the White House press corps.
Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Wednesday insisted the White House condemned "threats against anyone", when asked about potential violence in Georgia over the election results.
