Speaking with reporters during his introductory press conference, new Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor said Monday that he would be open to discussing a long-term extension - just not if the talks overlap with his on-field duties. He did say, however, that he doesn't want those negotiations to interfere with his focus on the season when spring training rolls around.
Francisco Lindor smiled widely for a full 40 minutes, enthralled to join a New York Mets team bulking up under new owner Steven Cohen.
"NEW YORK NEW YORK #godisgood #cantwait", Lindor wrote in the post. "I'm living my dream". In exchange, NY sent shortstops Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez to Cleveland as well as a pair of prospects - pitcher Josh Wolf and outfielder Isaiah Greene.
"I'm excited to be with the Mets organization". I'm not against a long term. "I'm blessed to be able to play the greatest game out there at probably the biggest city in the world and one of the most fun cities in the world".

‘The Bachelor’ contestant almost faints during rose ceremony
After noticing she was stumbling, James paused the ceremony to check on Trott, who replied, "I'm, like, seeing stars". Fellow contestant Bri Springs told producers that it looked like Trott was about to faint.
"I'm not against an extension, it just has to make sense for both sides", Lindor said. Lindor said. "You were incredible". He earned $6,481,481 prorated from a $17.5 million salary past year, is eligible for arbitration next month and can become a free agent after this season.
The Mets acquired Lindor along with right-handed starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco in a blockbuster six-player deal with the Cleveland Indians last Thursday.
"We talked and we gave it our best effort on both sides", Lindor said. Cohen bought the Wilpon and Katz families from the Mets on November 6 and pledged to increase spending. A comparable deal might be the 12-year, $365 million contract Mookie Betts signed last summer with the Dodgers, forgoing his own free agency in the process. "Like I said, I'm not against a long-term [contract]". I've never been against an extension. I'm Francisco Lindor. I'm going to do me, and hopefully people like that. And that's what I bring. That's what I'm bringing. I'm bringing my, 'Hey guys, let's find a way to do this together. The fans were great the time I was there.
He hoped to remain with the Indians but said "they didn't come up with that number". He praised Cleveland but looked ahead enthusiastically. I have nothing but respect and love for all of them. "I'm going to smile, I'm going to have fun, I'm going to enjoy the ride brother".
