Seahawks sign GM John Schneider to extension through 2027 National Football League draft

In December, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll praised Schottenheimer as an "incredible candidate" to be a head coach for another team.

Schottenheimer had come under fire amid the late-season slump.

After the Seahawks' loss to the Rams in the wild-card playoffs, Carroll questioned the offense's ability to adapt to opposing defenses in the second half of the season. Seattle finished in the top 10 in scoring in all three seasons, including eighth in 2020 (28.7 points per game).

The Seahawks scored a franchise-record 459 points in the regular season, but that was heavily weighted toward the beginning of the season, as Seattle topped 30 points in seven of its first eight games.
