As SpaceX has delivered the well-aged wines back to Earth, they will still have to settle down for nearly a month.

With this, the International Space Station bids goodbye to a French wine that was literally stored from beyond any country. Since aged in outer space for more than a year, it is no ordinary champagne.

As part of an experiment conducted by a Luxembourg-based start-up firm, experts sent the liquor to the International Space Station in November 2019.

"Our goal is to address the solution to how to have tomorrow's agriculture that is organic, healthy and able to feed humanity", said Nicholas Gaum, co-founder of Space Cargo Unlimited. He claimed that "space was the key".

There's another benefit. Gaume expects future explorers to the moon and Mars will want to enjoy some of Earth's pleasures.

He explained, "Being French, having some good food and good wine is part of life".

Due to climate change, Gaume said agricultural products like grapes will need to adapt to harsher conditions.

The 12 bottles were corked and carefully packaged in steel cylinders to avoid breakage.

After the tasting, the wines, as well as vines that were also on board the ISS, will go through a series of chemical tests. SpaceX's supply ships previously parachuted into the Pacific.
