Klete Keller, double médaillé d'or olympique en relais avec Michael Phelps et l'équipe américaine, faisait partie des manifestants pro-Trump à avoir envahi le Capitole.

Des paramilitaires, des Proud Boys, des QAnon, des néo-nazis mais aussi... un ancien médaillé olympique.

Les deux médias ont échangé avec une douzaine d'anciens coéquipiers et entraîneurs. Sous couvert d'anonymat, tous l'ont formellement identifié dans plusieurs images du site conservateur Townhall.

Champion olympique à Athènes en 2004 et Pékin en 2008 aux côtés de Michael Phelps, et médaillé d'argent à Sydney en 2000 au relais 4x200 m, Ketle Keller compte aussi deux médailles de bronze individuelles en 2000 et 2004 au 400 m nage libre. Une spirale négative qui, selon les dires du nageur dans une ancienne interview, a culminé en 2014 lorsqu'il a dû vivre 10 mois dans sa voiture après son divorce. L'agence a effacé son nom et son CV de son site Internet.

Aucune vidéo n'a montré Keller agissant de manière violente, affirme le NY Times, mais le simple fait de s'être trouvé en cet endroit l'expose à des accusations fédérales pour entrée par effraction et trouble à l'ordre public.

Au total, cinq personnes, dont un policier, sont mortes lors des tristes événements de mardi dernier. Soixante-dix personnes ont déjà été inculpées, et 170 autres ont été identifiées.
