Une restriction qui serait influencée par le choix des développeurs des applications.

Wardel a relevé hier le changement opéré par Apple avec la nouvelle bêta de Big Sur. Si la mise à jour n'est pas très importante, certains experts de la marque à la pomme se sont plongés dans le code de cette dernière pour trouver des fonctionnalités cachées.

Un fichier interne a été ajouté sur macOS Big Sur, appelé "ContentFilterExclusionList", qui est une liste de plusieurs applications et services Apple qui peuvent contourner tout pare-feu installé sur le Mac.

Chaque application peut invoquer des raisons différentes, mais il est en général assez coûteux et difficile de développer une application mobile pour ordinateurs (beaucoup plus complexe que le changement iOS - iPadOS).

Étant donné que ces applications et services contournaient les pare-feu, les utilisateurs ne pouvaient plus les bloquer ni même les surveiller pour voir combien de données les applications Apple transféraient ou avec quelles adresses IP ils communiquaient via des outils comme Little Snitch. Il est en effet question qu'Apple bloque l'installation d'applications iOS qui ne seraient pas proposées sur le Mac App Store.

C'est un des petits bonus permis par l'architecture Apple Silicon qui équipe les récents Macs équipés de la puce Apple M1: il est désormais possible de lancer des applications iOS initialement prévues pour l'iPhone ou l'iPad.

Le code trouvé dans la bêta 2 est lié aux API qui gèrent les protections DRM (Digital Rights Management) du système d'exploitation.
