  • Dallas Stars set to start season Jan. 22 after COVID-19 outbreak

Following a COVID-19 outbreak within the Dallas Stars' locker room, including six players and two staff members testing positive for the virus, two Capitals games have been rescheduled by the National Hockey League.

The Stars returned to practice on Tuesday missing 14 players.

In training camp, 17 members of the Stars tested positive for COVID-19, which forced the team to shut down its facilities for several days. On Jan. 12, the league put that number at 17, though it said most were asymptomatic and all were recovering without incident. That game, as well as games at the Panthers on Friday and at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday and Tuesday, have been rescheduled.

The game against the Panthers originally scheduled for Thursday is now scheduled for February 22, and the game originally scheduled for Friday is now set for May 3. Furthermore, the Caps' April 11 game against the Bruins will now take place a day early on April 10.

Dallas at Tampa Bay, originally scheduled for January 17, is now scheduled for May 4 at 7 p.m. ET.
