  • COVID-19: Prince William 'proud' of Queen and Duke for getting COVID jabs as he urges 'everyone' to get the vaccine

Prince William last night urged the country to take up the offer of a Covid-19 vaccine as his grandparents had done and heralded the successful rollout, saying: 'There is a big United Kingdom story here to tell'.

William replied: 'It's nice to have that light at the end of the tunnel'.

She told the duke: "We do have vaccine hesitancy in some groups".

William, who has three kids - George, Charlotte, and Louis - said at the inaugural This Can Happen conference in London: "I worked several times on very traumatic jobs involving children, and after I had my own children, I think the relation between the job and the personal life was what really took me over the edge".

It is understood that the Queen wanted to publicly announce she and Prince Philip had been vaccinated against the virus in order to prevent speculation and misinformation. "I've met so many different people of all ages and backgrounds, and to meet The Duke today and be able to discuss with him how important this effort is really was a once in a lifetime opportunity".

"This is because we have a world-leading NHS, this is because we have right people, the right research and development here", he said for the NHS staff and added 'A huge congratulations to all of you for playing your part in such a monumental moment". "Getting that uptake is really important".

"#TeamVaccine's dedication and continued efforts are ensuring that the most vulnerable people in society are protected from coronavirus".

Like in the U.S., British authorities have made vaccinating older people their first priority because they are most at risk of dying from COVID-19. "I know what a massive difference it is going to make to everyone".

"As part of the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, hundreds of vaccination sites and hospital hubs have been established across the United Kingdom".

Dr Helen Alefounder, a GP at Rysseldene Surgery in Colwyn Bay, Wales, told William north-east Wales had been hit worse with coronavirus than the west.

Bronagh Hegarty, a pharmacist at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, said people have "moved mountains, day in, day out". Challenging times ahead but together we will get it cracked'.

She said "We are still seeing sick patients, are still having to deal with everything we would normally do as a practice and (are) very thankful to staff giving up their evenings and weekends to try and help vaccinate because it really is the most important thing we can be doing".

'It is palpable and just lovely to be involved'.
