The Muppet Show Is Coming to Disney

Disney Plus will begin streaming Jim Henson's Broadway star-laden 1976-81 television series The Muppet Show beginning Friday, 19 February.

Although the Muppets date back to the '50s, and appeared as supporting players on various shows over their first two decades (most notably Sesame Street), The Muppet Show is when they really became the Muppets we know and love today. It will arrive on the streaming platform on February 19, 2021.

Even more exciting, all five seasons of the show will be available; Seasons 4 and 5 have never been released on home video before. It would be a Herculean effort to lock down all the necessary rights to release the entire series in full, with no edits or music changes, but if any company is big enough to take care of that it'd be Disney. In the meantime, you can check out a lot of other Muppet content on Disney+ while you wait for The Muppet Show to arrive next month.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Muppet Treasure Island, so Disney will likely be celebrating that movie throughout the year.
