ET reports Emmy-winning actor Alec Baldwin has left Twitter amid the controversy over his wife Hilaria/Hillary's heritage.

"Twitter is like a party where everyone is screaming", Baldwin tweeted. "Not much of a party".

He concluded: "Goodbye for now".

Earlier in the day, he had retweeted some news articles and shared a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Alec Baldwin is saying adios to Twitter after a huge backlash to his wife's claims about having Spanish heritage and seemingly slipping in and out of a Spanish accent in a scandal that exploded when it was revealed she's not from Spain, but from Boston!

Hilaria was called out on Twitter last month for "pretending" to be Spanish.

Hilary (Hilaria) addressed the backlash in an Instagram video, explaining that she was born in Boston and grew up spending time with her family between MA and Spain, where her parents and siblings now live.

She was also slammed for her occasional Spanish accent, which has noticeably fluctuated over the years when she made appearances on TV.
