'The Muppet Show' coming to Disney+ in February

  • Five seasons of The Muppets, featuring a variety of musical numbers, to be released on Disney Plus

Fans of the Muppets, your time is around the corner as Disney just announced that The Muppet Show will be making its bow on Disney+ on February 19.

Disney+ has been capitalizing on its catalogue of well-known content since launching, but The Muppet Show hasn't been part of the offering-until now.

Premiering in 1976, The Muppet Show was created by Jim Henson and featured the characters we would grow to love like Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, the Swedish Chef, and many more.

Disney dropped the news over on the official Muppets Twitter account.

Part of the reason this is such a big deal is that The Muppet Show isn't now streaming anywhere, and hasn't been for some time.

The Muppet Show joins Disney Plus' extensive Muppets catalog, including Muppets Most Wanted, The Muppet Movie, Muppet Treasure Island, The Muppet Christmas Carol, The Muppets, and Great Muppet Caper. More than that, season 4 and season 5 of the iconic show were never previously released on any home entertainment platform.

"Today, I'm proud to say: 'It's time to play the music, light the lights and meet the Muppets on Disney Plus tonight!'" Kermit added.
