Andor K-2SO Appearance Won't Happen Yet, Alan Tudyk Says

There's no reason for Tudyk to lie about this, so it seems that the first season of Andor won't be tackling Cassian's first meeting with K-2SO.

Voiced by Alan Tudyk, K-2SO was a reprogrammed Imperial droid and Andor's sidekick in the 'Star Wars Story'.

"They're shooting it right now, I'm not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I'll end up in there", said Tudyk.

He said: "I'm going to be in the show".

This might explain why, during a recent interview with Collider, Tudyk revealed that he's not set to take on the role of fan-favourite droid K-2SO in the Disney+ series that's now shooting. It's just that the story that [creator and "Rogue One" co-writer] Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn't involve K-2SO until later on. "I can't be too specific, but I can definitely say that I'm not going to be in the first season". Kennedy referred to Andor as merely a "series" in December at the Disney Investor Day, where Tudyk was trotted out alongside Luna to promote the show.

The Cassian Andor will be executive produced by Tony Gilroy, who previously directed the reshoots for Rogue One. While character details for Gough and Arjona's roles are now being kept under wraps, O'Reilly is set to return to her role of Republic senator and co-founder and leader of the Rebel Alliance Mon Mothma after first appearing in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith in a non-speaking role and then a more prominent supporting turn in Rogue One.

And while it may not happen in season 1, Tudyk is ready to return for future seasons, even if his age is starting to make the mo-cap part of the performance a little more hard.

He expressed some concerns: "I do know this: I have to be on stilts for it, because the character is 7'1, and I'm not one of those guys that says, "somebody else do the motion capture, and I'll voice it later". "I'll have to do the motion capture, and I turn 50 in March. I'm not doing it!" Andor will debut on Disney+ in 2022.
