  • Live updates, January 24: Probable new Northland community case went through MIQ in Auckland

While in the Netherlands she was with family members, all who were well at the time, but one or two have tested positive for Covid-19 since, said Ashley Bloomfield.

The woman tested negative on January 2 and 10 in managed isolation, and was released on January 13, after which she went home.

There is little information available about a new community case of Covid-19 identified by testing today - other than she is in Whangarei and used the Covid app "scrupulously' when travelling to Mangawhai, Dargaville and Helensville".

Four close contacts have been identified and while none are symptomatic, each has been ordered to take tests - along with their close contacts.

The Ministry of Health's website will be updated with the businesses and places she visited, as soon as business owners are notified, Dr Bloomfield says.

The woman had travelled to Spain and the Netherlands before arriving in New Zealand, he said.

The woman had travelled in Spain and the Netherlands late previous year.

"We are working on the assumption this is a positive case and that it is a more transmissible variant".

Authorities were reviewing closed-circuit television footage to see if the woman contracted the virus while in the managed isolation facility. "President Biden looks forward to working with leaders in both parties to position America to out-compete China."Hua, from the Chinese foreign ministry, responded on Friday by accusing the Trump administration of having imposed thousands of sanctions on China. She said Beijing's measures were "completely appropriate and necessary, fully demonstrating the Chinese government's firm determination to safeguard national interests"."We have long said that unilateral sanctions harm others and hurt oneself, and just like a boomerang, sooner or later it will fly back", she said."McCaul's comments fully expose how some U.S. politicians only allow the United States to engage in arbitrary suppression and do not allow others to justly defend themselves against bullying, hegemony and hegemonic logic".

United Kingdom says new variant may be linked to higher death rates
The total number of people in the country who have died within 28 days of a positive test now stands at 95,981. The government said the case rates remain "dangerously high" and urged the public to keep to lockdown rules.

UFC 257: Arman Tsarukyan to face off against Matt Frevola
Frevola was supposed to face off against Morocco's Ottman Azaitar , but the latter refused to participate. The 30-year-old Azaitar, who was born in Germany, leaves the UFC with 13 wins from 13 fights.

She later developed symptoms and tested positive. She meant to get tested, she said. Further tests have been carried out, but the results are not out yet.

More than 600 people who had spent time in the hotel have been asked to self-isolate and be re-tested for Covid-19.

New Zealanders will find out on Monday whether a new case of COVID-19 will prompt new restrictions, or the infected woman's "extremely assiduous" personal contact tracing has stopped spread of the disease.

"In this case we are also casting the net wide to ensure we contain any potential community transmission. Genomic sequencing is a big part of the puzzle", said Hipkins, in response to questions about what risk the woman's movements pose to Northland.

Dr Bloomfield says anyone who is symptomatic, either in Northland or around the country, should get a test.

He called on everyone to scan QR codes, enable Bluetooth tracing, wear masks on public transport, wash their hands and stay home when unwell.

The Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield and COVID-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins will provide an update on the probable case of COVID-19 in Northland.
