Spartan Bioscience made the announcement today and says production is now underway.

The fight against the novel coronavirus in Canada, which is now under a second wave of the pandemic, is in a critical stage, the country's chief public health officer Theresa Tam said.

The company had developed a portable device that promised to deliver rapid results and received federal approval in April 2020, but the device was recalled a month later after Health Canada expressed concerns about its effectiveness.

Apparently, it will be able to provide results in places where there is limited lab access like remote communities.

"We want to thank our government and commercial partners for their patience, and trusting us to create a rapid RT-PCR testing option as part of Canada's public health response", said Spartan CEO Roger Eacock.

En seconde période, il aurait fallu mieux contrer. "Le haut du tableau, c'est tout ce qui est très fort. Après rien n'empêche de regarder vers le haut, c'est bien d'avoir des ambitions".

The chief public health officer said that it was also still too soon to know whether the recent downward trend in new Covid-19 cases will continue although there's been an improvement in the numbers in some provinces, including British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, while the pandemic is regaining steam elsewhere in the country.

Surging new infection rates continued to show signs of easing in multiple provinces, though one jurisdiction was poised to impose new restrictions in a bid to stem the ongoing spread.

Starting at midnight, non-essential travel is prohibited in and out of the area, which borders northern ME and Quebec's Bas-St-Laurent region.

However, officials in Ontario expressed concern about a highly contagious United Kingdom variant of the virus that was detected at a long-term care facility north of Toronto.

On Saturday, public health officials in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador said there were no new confirmed cases of COVID-19. "This will not only prevent more tragic outcomes, but will help to ensure that new virus variants of concern do not have the opportunity to spread". In fact, the swab must be performed by a health-care professional.
