  • The diplomatic normalisation agreements were rejected by the Palestinians as a betrayal

"The government approves the creation of the embassy of the United Arab Emirates to Tel Aviv, in the state of Israel", it announced on Twitter.

No further details were given about the UAE embassy to Israel.

"Today the Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi has officially been opened, with the arrival of the mission head Eitan Naeh", the ministry said in a statement.

The UAE and Israel agreed to normalise relations in August, a deal forged largely over shared fears of Iran.

The agreements, known as the "Abraham Accords", shattered a longstanding Arab consensus that there should be no normalisation with Israel until it reaches a comprehensive peace deal with the Palestinians.

The embassy said the contracts included as many as 50 F-35A fighters valued at $10.4 billion, 18 MQ-9B drones valued at $2.97 billion, and various munitions valued at $10 billion.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said the opening of the new embassy would allow the broadening of what already are warm ties between Israel and the UAE.

Shortly, Israel will likely reopen a liaison office in the Moroccan capital of Rabat and an embassy in Bahrain too after the latter signed onto the Abraham Accords.

After the signing of the the Abraham Accords, Sudan announced the establishment of ties with Israel, and last month Morocco made a decision to established formal relations.

Also Sunday, the Israeli government gave the green light to the agreement with Morocco, ahead of its final approval by parliament.

The Israeli embassy in the UAE's capital of Abu Dhabi is now operating out of a temporary office until a permanent facility is located.

"They discussed opportunities to enhance the partnership over the coming months, including by building on the success of Israel's normalisation arrangements with UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco", a statement on Sullivan's call on Saturday with Israel's Meir Ben Shabbat said.
