  • Cutting India Workforce Unsure Of Comeback Tik Tok Email To Employees

The Indian government has now officially and permanently banned up to 60 Chinese-owned apps it initially listed in June previous year.

China said on Wednesday that the Indian government's decision to keep a ban on 59 Chinese apps was a violation of the World Trade Organization's fair rules of business and would hurt Chinese firms.

The ban dates from previous year when political tension between the neighbours rose over their disputed border.

The apps that remain banned now include TikTok, WeChat, and UC Browser, among many.

"We urge the Indian side to immediately correct its discriminatory measures and avoid causing further damage to bilateral cooperation", Chinese embassy spokesperson Ji Rong said in a statement.

When the interim ban was on, there was a silver lining of the operations resuming post deliberation and implementation of necessary changes.

TikTok had committed to spend $1 billion in the region.

Mossimo Giannulli, husband of Lori Loughlin, denied bid for early prison release
Gorton on Tuesday denied Mossimo Giannulli's request to serve the remainder of his prison sentence at home, court documents show. Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli leave the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse in Boston on August 27, 2019.

The order put out by the ministry in June claimed that the applications in question were "prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order".

TikTok is owned by ByteDance, which has come under scrutiny over the last few months over its alleged closeness with the Chinese Communist Party.

"We have done our best since then to address their (Indian government's) concerns".

"We have worked steadfastly to comply with the Government of India order issued on June 29, 2020". TikTok did not respond to a request for comment.

On September 2, the government had banned 118 more Chinese apps, including PUBG Mobile, and in November, 43 new Chinese apps including popular shopping website AliExpress were blocked over similar privacy concerns. At the same time, foreign governments fear that Beijing could force Chinese-based companies to share user data from their foreign operations, something numerous companies have denied they would do.

In one of the latest developments, a panel of judges on the US appeals court in Washington signaled skepticism in mid-December over the Trump administration's continuing efforts to ban new TikTok downloads.

The notices were issued last week, as reported by local media.
