Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas introduced the objectives of the new Estonian government to her Finnish counterpart Sanna Marin in a video call on Tuesday; the two heads of government also discussed cross-border travel between Estonia and Finland.

The center-right Reform Party, chaired by Kallas, and the left-leaning Center Party, which are Estonia's two biggest political parties, clinched a deal on Sunday to form a government replacing the previous Cabinet led by Center leader Juri Ratas that collapsed this month due to a corruption scandal.

She will be leading the new administration and will be the first to do so since 2016.

Estonia, a nation of 1.3 million, is now one of the few countries where both the head of state and the head of government are women. It will make sure that it learns from its previous mistakes and correct its ways.

"In addition to curbing the spread of the pandemic, we also prioritize stronger relations with our closest neighbors and allies, striving for climate neutrality, digital development, resolving the economic crisis and pursuing budgetary balance".

The Reform party, which won the 2019 election but was outmanoeuvred by Ratas, will have only seven of 15 ministers in the two-party cabinet, according to a list published by the Estonian public broadcaster.
