John Boyega and Robert De Niro team up for new Netflix thriller

Gerard McMurray, who previously directed Burning Sands, one of Netflix's first original productions is set to write, direct and produce the drama through his recently formed production company Buppie Productions.

To be called The Formula, the film is about an American F1 driver who becomes involved with the mafia and is forced to serve as a getaway driver to save his family.

John Boyega and Robert De Niro have signed a brand new project together on Netflix. The Formula is part of a wider deal that Welsh and Rosenthal have with Netflix.

"The Formula" is being produced under the brand new Buppie Productions.

Boyega first found fame playing Moses in 2011 sci-fi comedy film Attack The Block before achieving worldwide stardom as Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy movies.

The movie is expected to be a mid-budget thriller. "The Formula" will be bringing two big stars to the film. Jane Rosenthal, also linked to the film, has worked on The Irishman, Bohemian Rhapsody, as well as My Stepfather and Me and Its Sequel, with Robert De Niro.

Boyega most recently starred in Steve McQueen's acclaimed anthology film series Small Axe.

Boyega is now filming They Cloned Tyrone, with Jamie Foxx and Teyonah Parriss, and he also has Naked Singularity with Olivia Cooke and Bill Skarsgard. De Niro is also set to star in a David O'Rusell film starring Christian Bale and Margot Robbie. The aforementioned duo will also help produce the movie alongside McMurray and De Niro. It's been revealed that he'll be making his return to Netflix to direct The Formula.

The two entertainers have been astoundingly occupied starting late.
