The crew were initially able to hide, but the pirates broke into their safe area after six hours.
Pirates who seized 15 sailors when they stormed a Turkish-crewed container ship in the Gulf of Guinea two days ago have not yet made contact with authorities, Turkey's foreign minister said on Monday.
It identified the victim as engineer Farman Ismayilov of Azerbaijan, the only non-Turkish crew member. According to reports, the pirates disabled most of the ship's systems, leaving only the navigation system for the remaining crew to find their way to the port.
"The ship is in our waters and our sailors are assisting a few nautical miles from Port Gentil", said Gabon's presidency spokesman Jessye Ella Ekogha, without providing further detail.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by telephone to the new captain and was following events closely, his office said.
"Pirates have not got in touch either with us, with the company or with the families of the sailors", Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters.

State-run Anadolu agency cited Yaren as saying he had been "cruising blindly" toward Gabon with damage to the ship's controls and only the radar working. Three of the crew were left on the Mozart. It added that Erdogan issued orders for the recovery of the kidnapped crew.
The Gulf of Guinea, off the coasts of Nigeria, Guinea, Togo, Benin and Cameroon, is the most risky sea in the world for piracy, according to the International Maritime Bureau.
Istanbul-based Boden Maritime, which owns and operates the Mozart vessel, also confirmed the incident and death of one of its crew member.
